What our committed CEO's are saying . . .

CEO Commitment Form

The HLC was established to serve the productively specific interests of our member organizations, led by you and your peers.  Our main focus has been to slow the rate of increase of your sick care benefit costs.  This is accomplished with a myriad of services.  Key components include sponsoring a fitness incentive program, providing an insurance program with rate cap goals, and coordinating a champ network.

We have learned that the fitness incentive program can be profoundly life-changing for many employees and can be invigorating for your entire workforce, beginning with the early adopters and rapidly spreading to the rest of your organization.  With a primary focus on group encouragement and self-improvement, the companies that lead this effort well have a truly transformational experience.  This does not happen without strong leadership from the top.  Your active involvement as CEO will be instrumental in our program's success within your company.  We do not want organizations as members of the HLC unless the CEO is truly committed to our mission both personally and professionally.

What we need from you:

  • Active Participation in the HRA process and fitness incentive program, using your experience as a model for the entire workforce. You need to become one of the leading supporters for the program
  • Appoint and support a champ - an outgoing and fitness-oriented person who will be the "point of contact" for all HLC information and activities. Suport them in their efforts to make this program a success.
  • Attend CEO meetings which are an opportunity to learn from the experience of other members.
  • Create organizational incentives.  Work with your insurance consultant, champ and the HLC staff to modify your benefit offering by adding incentives for healthy behavior change.
  • Set goals for your organization and measure your progress.  Work to achieve specific levels of accomplishment as set by the HLC for your Pool.
  • Encourage full participation by your employees and spouses in the HRA/HQA process.  Strongly encourage those with serious risk factors to utilize the HLC's health coaching benefit to make improvements to their health status, moving them from high to moderate risk.  Reducing the likelihood of expensive medical claims.

Worth quoting . . . from the Executive Director

Leaders do not avoid, repress,
or deny conflict, but rather
see it as an opportunity.
