Incentive or Challenge Ideas

Build off of the Virtual Challenges
Most consecutive days of meeting the 5000 step daily goal
   in X period
X out of 30/31 days in a month
Most steps total in a month
Beat one previous month’s “combined company total number
    of days” of
meeting the 5000 step goal
Beat the boss
Reach X days of 5000 steps in one month
Most activity minutes in one week
Reach the 5000 step and 180 minute level on two consecutive
    days (maybe a weekend)

This may also be as simple as who is at the top of the leader board with a race to catch up to this individual.

Other great examples include creating a challenge within the Sonic Boom program (pool 4 and HLF only).  From the admin site go to “Sonic Striding” – contests – add a contest.  You can check whether or not you want to award prizes.  If you chose to award Boomer Bucks for single company contests then your company is responsible for those costs.

Naletta Burr, Pool 4 champ from Dimension IV created the following challenges:

  • Steppin’ Sweethearts – hit both the 5000 step and 180 min. mark on two consecutive days over the weekend.
  • February’s Final Stretch – Think of creative ways to boost your group’s activity time. Pair this with an award for the individual with the most activity time during a one week period.

Marcia Sengstock from the YMCA offered additional ideas such as Cardio Bingo or Cardio Poker where each day you complete your cardio workout (can be modified to the Sonic Boom program’s 5000 step days), you receive either a bingo chip or a card and the winner in bingo or the individual with the best poker hand wins (the more chips or cards you earn the better).

Incentive/Prize Ideas:
            Gift certificates
            Healthy cookbook
            Fruit basket
            Gas cards
            Gift certificate for tennis shoes
A receiver for home use ($35) – a great idea from Naletta!

see it as an opportunity.
